Hi! My name is Eric Schmiel. When I'm feeling pretentious, I refer to myself as a multi-disciplinary digital creative but usually I just say I'm a guy that does lots of stuff.
I do photography, youtube, film making, writing, stuff and I like to try to make things at Richmond's local game jams. This has brought me out to dabble in making chiptunes, pixel art and programming, all fine things.
I like making games but it's hard to find time to dedicate to it so I don't think I'll ever be going pro but still. Games were important to me growing up, I don't get to play them very much these days but gaming will always have a bit of a special place in my heart and it's kind of magical to actually get to try making them these days.
Stick around and you'll probably see a bunch of game jam stuff I put together over the years. The nice thing about jams is that it finally gives me an excuse to block out a weekend to play around with my tools ^_^. I mostly work with PICO-8 but I've been thinking about branching out into Unity because I think building my VFX skills for movies will have a lot of overlap with helping make 3d games.
